Boys & Girls Clubs of Northeast Ohio (BGCNEO) is searching for a Grants & Compliance Manager to be a key member of our Team. The Grants & Compliance Manager ensures that all government and non-government funded programs operate in full compliance with funder requirements, organizational policies, and applicable regulations. This position drives timely and accurate reporting; monitors budget spend down; and develops systems that strengthen accountability, transparency, and readiness for audits and reviews. Using a project management approach, the Manager coordinates timelines, deliverables, and reporting requirements across departments to reduce risk and safeguard compliance.
The position is full-time, working hybrid remote in Northeast Ohio, within the region served by BGCNEO. The salary range for this position is $ 67,000 - $73,000 annually. The position reports to, and receives directions from, BGCNEO’s Senior Director of Grants Administration to execute assigned tasks to achieve organizational goals.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Adhere to federal, state, local & private funder requirements and organizational policies
- Develop, implement, and maintain compliance systems to proactively mitigate risk
- Conduct internet compliance reviews to confirm alignment with requirements and identify areas for improvement
- Provide guidance & training to staff on compliance policies, processes, and expectations
- Serve as the primary liaison with auditors, funders, and oversight agencies on compliance related matters
- Lead preparation & timely submission of all required financial and programmatic reports
- Collaborate with accounting & advancement to verify accuracy & consistent reporting
- Maintain thorough, audit-ready documentation for all funded projects
- Track reporting calendars and deadlines to ensure 100% compliance
- Monitor budget allocations, expenditures, and spend down schedules for compliance with approval budgets
- Partner with accounting to ensure funds are spent according to the funder guidelines
- Monitor progress, identify risks, and recommend solutions to keep programs aligned with compliance requirements
- Coordinate across departments to ensure resources, reporting, and accountability stay compliance with funder expectations
SKILLS REQUIRED
- Bachelor's degree in public administration, business, nonprofit management, accounting/finance, or related field; or equivalent relevant work experience; compliance certification preferred
- Five years of progressive experience in grants administration, compliance, or nonprofit accounting, with demonstrated knowledge of federal, state, and private funder requirements
- Strong knowledge of federal grant compliance standards, including Uniform Guidance, OMB circulars, and audit preparation processes
- Demonstrated experience in monitoring budgets, expenditures, and spend down schedules; ability to analyze financial reports and identify variances
- Proven ability to design, implement, and maintain compliance systems, policies, and internal monitoring processes to mitigate risk
- Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple reporting calendars, compliance workflows, and departmental deadlines
- Proficiency with grant management software, data tracking systems & MS Office Suite
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across departments, influence without authority, and serve as a trusted liaison to funders, auditors, and oversight agencies
- Ability to train and support staff on compliance expectations, reporting requirements, and risk mitigation practices
- Commitment to ethical standards, accountability, and continuous improvement in compliance and grants management practices
