Boys & Girls Clubs of Northeast Ohio (BGCNEO) is searching for a Grants Relationship Manager to be a key member of our Resource Development team. Our Grants Relationship Managers oversee an assigned portfolio of funding constituents, managing the funder relationship, acting as the lead on proposal and report preparation and submission, and ensuring compliance with funding guidelines and BGCNEO priorities. This position will primarily oversee the Cuyahoga County region.

This position is full-time, working remotely within the Northeast Ohio region. The salary range for this position is $60,000 - $70,000 annually. The position reports to and receives direction from BGCNEO’s Director of Grants Management.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

Prospect Identification

The Grants Relationship Manager will identify appropriate prospects for BGCNEO’s operational and capital needs through familiarity with existing supporters, knowledge of the philanthropic landscape, external research, and community connections.

Relationship Management

The Grants Relationship Manager will cultivate and manage relationships with funders in their designated constituent pool and additional prospects by region or program area. This includes planning and facilitating initial outreach and engagement activities and acting as the primary point of contact for BGCNEO for grants, in close collaboration with the Director of Corporate Relations, Director of Individual Giving, Director of Grants Management, Chief Development Officer, and the Regional Advisory Board. The Grants Relationship Manager will also lead stewardship activities for their assigned constituents, including acknowledging funding awards and arranging Club site visits and tours. Lastly, the Grants Relationship Manager will maintain a strong regional presence as a representative of BGCNEO in designated service areas, including attendance and participation in funder events and community engagement activities. He/she/they will utilize their regional expertise to share funding insights with the Director of Grants Management, Chief Development Officer, and other key BGCNEO staff, helping to support BGCNEO’s overall Resource Development and organizational strategies.

Proposal Writing

The Grants Relationship Manager will prepare and submit compelling and accurate grant proposals to solicit support from various sources in a timely fashion. This role requires maintaining a calendar of deadlines and grant status updates utilizing BGCNEO’s donor management system; collaborating with staff in various departments to solicit information regarding program design, objectives, and outcomes to accurately represent the needs of those we serve; and ensuring that restricted grant awards are properly executed to meet funders intentions and requirements.

Reporting

The Grants Relationship Manager will maintain a calendar of reports due to assigned funders utilizing BGCNEO’s donor management system and will ensure that accurate data is submitted according to each funder’s requirements and deadlines. This includes collaborating with various internal departments to ensure awareness of and adherence to mandatory grant outcomes and reporting deadlines.

Special Projects

From time to time, the Grants Relationship Manager may be tasked to work on special projects that convert programmatic ideas into written and structured plans for solicitation and support before prospects have been identified. Additionally, the Grants Relationship Manager may be tasked with writing copy to be used in BGCNEO’s internal or external communications.

Desired Skills & Qualifications:

• Minimum of a bachelor’s degree from a four-year accredited college or university
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Familiarity with and understanding of non-profit resource development.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of internal and external stakeholders, including BGCNEO staff, board members, funding partners, and community groups.
• Skilled with technology applications, including Microsoft Teams, Outlook, and Office, as well as Little Green Light or other donor databases.
• Strong research skills for gathering data and statistical information for use in funding requests.
• Minimum of two years’ grant writing or comparable experience.

The Grants Relationship Manager will be working remotely. However, this key role will require attending meetings with the BGCNEO team and other related agencies as needed. The Grants Relationship Manager will be expected to appear in-person when required.
